How we work

Before we can provide you with a quotation or estimate for your documentation project we arrange a technical author to meet with you to establish the scope and content of the work, deadlines and budgets etc. From this information we will supply a detailed breakdown of the work and costs involved and make some suggestions regarding suitable file formats and software to be used.

As a matter of course we expect to produce draft copies of the document throughout the project. These are submitted to you for approval and markup. The number of drafts depend on the quality of source material and the number of changes made to the product whilst the document is being prepared.

When the final copy has been accepted and signed off we will either supply you with the disk files, laser printed copy or arrange duplication for you.

Software

Although we use many packages, for most technical documents we prefer to use FrameMaker® as it allows us easily to convert between printed and on-line documents, it provides excellent cross referencing, tables, formulæ and book building features. It is also fully cross-platform compatible between PC and Mac..
